Planned neighborhoods, two-story homes
Eastlake was built as a master-planned community, in villages like Eastlake Greens, Eastlake Shores, Eastlake Hills, Eastlake Trails, Eastlake Woods, and Eastlake Vistas. Many homes are two stories, with the bedrooms upstairs and the kitchen and family room down.
That layout is fine until balance goes, or until a hip replacement means no stairs for weeks. Then the house has to change or the routine does. Common fixes are a bed in the downstairs den, a stair lift, or a caregiver for the morning and evening trips up and down. Downstairs half-baths often have no shower, so bathing becomes the hard part.
HOA rules, gates, and parking
Most Eastlake neighborhoods have a homeowners’ association, and some have gates. Give us the gate code or put the caregiver on the guest list before the first shift. If your HOA limits street parking or uses parking permits, tell us where a caregiver can park so they don’t get a ticket halfway through a shift.
Hospitals and places nearby
- Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center is the closest hospital for most of Eastlake, about 10 minutes away.
- Otay Ranch Town Center, at Olympic Parkway and Eastlake Parkway, is a flat, outdoor place for a walk on a cool morning, with benches along the way.
- Salt Creek Recreation Center and Veterans Park Recreation Center are city recreation centers in eastern Chula Vista with classes and activities.
- Norman Park Senior Center, on F Street in western Chula Vista, is the city’s main senior center.
When the neighbors have moved on
In a neighborhood built for young families, an older adult living alone can go days without a real conversation, especially after they stop driving. Companion care gets them out: a walk around the lake, lunch, the library, or a ride to see an old friend.

Common questions
My mother’s bedroom is upstairs and she just had surgery. What do we do first?
For the first weeks, most families set up a bed downstairs and plan bathing around the nearest shower. Ask the hospital’s physical therapist whether stairs are allowed at all. We can have a caregiver there for the first days home.
Do you need our gate code?
Yes, or put the caregiver on your community’s guest list. We’ll also ask where a caregiver can park under your HOA’s rules.
